Local in the north east from sea level to c.600m. Usually found on steep slopes with gravelly soils. Often forms pure stands w ith almost totally absent understoreys. |

General Notes |
Produces valuable hardwood. May be quite ornamental, with dark hard deeply furrowed bark on trunk and branches, chalky white, young twigs reddish. Not suitable for suburban gardes due to mature size. Not suitable below powerlines. |
