Eagle Management Constraint Period extended

The law PFT

The Threatened Fauna Adviser recommends that forestry activities do not occur within 500m / 1km line-of-sight of active eagle nests during the Eagle Management Constraint Period (EMCP).

The EMCP runs from July to January (inclusive) in most years, but may be extended to as late as the end of February if there is evidence that eagle breeding activities are later than normal.

The decision on whether eagle breeding is later than usual is typically determined from flights conducted during November when chicks can be confidently aged.

This year data was available for 39 chicks. The evidence indicated that eagle breeding activities will extend into February.

Therefore, for the 2024-25 season the Eagle Management Constraint Period will end on February 14, 2025.
